App and Firmware Updates

We constantly improve the Dotbots app, so it is a good idea to update to the latest version whenever it becomes available.

Together with an app update, we may also release a firmware update. Firmware is the program installed inside the robot.

How firmware updates start​

After downloading or updating the app, connect to the robot.

If a new firmware version is available, the app shows a pop-up window. Tap the update button to start the firmware update.

During the update​

During the firmware update:

  • keep the update window open in the app
  • keep the robot turned on
  • do not close the app or go back from the update screen

If you leave the update screen or close the app, you will need to start the update again from the beginning.

What to expect​

The robot may turn off and on again by itself during the update. This is normal.

Wait until the app says the update is complete. After that, you can use the robot normally.

Updating later​

If you want to update the firmware later, you can find the update button in Settings.

You can open Settings from the app home screen by tapping the gear icon.
